Handling Bare Prints

If your print is not framed or matted, it is extremely delicate.  Besides the obvious ways to mar its finish by scratching, fingerprinting, or spilling things, a large print also can be damaged even by being lifted or held improperly.  The problem is that photographic materials crease, dent and scuff very easily, especially Fujiflex Supergloss material, and when the surface of a large glossy print is not pristinely flat, light reflecting from that surface will reveal the most subtle wrinkle, crease or dimple.

The best way to move large prints is to keep them supported on something like a piece of stiff cardboard, sliding them on and off as necessary.  If you absolutely must lift a large print unsupported, pick it up by opposite corners (for example, upper right and lower left), and if you need to turn it over, sandwich it between two sheets of cardboard.

Get it matted as soon as possible!
